Image Licensing and Attribution Statement

Effective August 2, 2026 · Version 2.0

5.1 Reusable does not always mean copyright-free

BucketListPlanner.ca selects images believed to permit reuse under public-domain status, Creative Commons licences, government open licences, or other reusable terms. Many reusable images remain protected by copyright and require attribution, licence references, ShareAlike treatment, change notices, or other conditions.

5.2 Recorded image information

Where available, the repository records the source page, direct image URL, file name, provider, creator, licence, licence URL, attribution text, dimensions, orientation, verification status, review date, reviewer decision, and relevant notes. We may preserve screenshots, revision identifiers, or other evidence of the source and licence status at the time of review.

5.3 Display approval

An image is displayed only after repository review indicates that it is approved for display. Approval is an operational review. It is not a legal warranty that a source statement, licence, ownership claim, depicted subject, or third-party right will remain accurate or undisputed.

5.4 Attribution

Attribution is displayed on attraction or city records where required and retained in repository metadata. A person who reuses an image outside BucketListPlanner.ca must review the original source and current licence and satisfy all applicable conditions independently.

5.5 Public domain and Creative Commons

Material identified as public domain may be reusable without copyright permission in some jurisdictions, but may remain subject to different copyright terms, personality rights, privacy rights, trademarks, cultural restrictions, or other rights elsewhere. Creative Commons licences commonly require appropriate credit, a licence reference, and an indication of changes. ShareAlike and NoDerivatives terms may impose additional limits.

5.6 Separate rights

A licence from a photographer or source does not guarantee clearance of every depicted person, artwork, building, trademark, performance, cultural item, or location. Review may consider commercial-use restrictions, freedom of panorama, identifiable people, protected artwork, and other rights, but no review can eliminate every legal risk.

5.7 Licensing concerns and takedown review

Creators, rights holders, and users may report a licensing, attribution, privacy, personality-right, or image concern to legal@bucketlistplanner.ca. A report should identify the image, source page, basis of the concern, supporting information, and claimant contact details.

We may temporarily hide the image, request evidence, correct attribution, replace the image, remove it, preserve review records, notify a contributor, or reject an unsupported or abusive claim.
